The quiet spell continues, so another interim report from the webmaster. We enter that time of year when volunteers are off on holiday or involved with numerous other summer activities, which is the usual way of life. However, having said that, we have had no less than three visiting groups at the museum during the first half of July. On the 6th, a group of members from SANHS (Somerset Archaeology and Natural History Society) came along on the steaming day. On Monday 14th a group from Dillington House, who had signed up for a series of talks by steam expert Peter Stanier, was also in attendance for a special steaming-afternoon. Finally on the 19th, a group of scouts and their parents came on-site for a private barbeque and general museum walkabout.
These group visits are especially welcome at the museum and, for the main part, seem to run along in a nice happy atmosphere. We can accommodate most reasonable sized groups of people and have had all kinds of them along in recent years; from archaeology, history, steam, old cars and bikes, railway enthusiasts, to name a few. We do need some notice, though, especially if you are planning to visit on a day when we are not normally in-steam. This is to ensure that we have volunteers available; many are still in full-time work.
The 2nd International Pumping Stations On The Air amateur radio event is "on" again this August Bank Holiday. I am still waiting for final confirmation from Weston-s-mare ARC people that they are set and ready to come along; however, if all is well, I will confirm that on the Events page a.s.a.p
