The Burrowbridge Pumping Station
The Burrowbridge pumping station is one of many on the Somerset Levels that ceased operations many years ago. The building is situated not far from the Westonzoyland site,
along the narrow lane towards Burrowbridge. It has now been taken over by a local haulage company and is not open for public viewing. However, most of the pumping machinery inside it has been rescued and transported to the Westonzoyland site, ready for future inspection,
preparation and eventual display.
This entailed a lot of hard work and, in fact, one of the pumping engines has had to be left in place. We have quite a few pictures and they have been incorporated into the thumbnail gallery below; each of which is clickable to more information, although not all of them are fully written up yet.
