The Pumping Station is located by the River Parrett (north bank), about 2 miles(3km) from the village of Westonzoyland, also 3 miles(4.5km) from Burrowbridge. The National Grid Reference of the Pumping Station is ST340328 and is shown in the latest edition of the Landranger Ordnance Survey 1:50,000
There is, unfortunately, no public transport directly to the museum. The nearest railway station is Bridgwater.
By road; if travelling on the M5 from the North then leave at junction 23 and enter Bridgwater. Look for the main A372 to Langport; the turning will be on your left, just by Enterprise Cars. Follow this road right through, towards Westonzoyland. Enter the village and keep on the main road until you pass a small shop on your right (Westonzoyland Stores), which is situated near a junction. There is a signpost immediately opposite you, across the road, which indicates Burrowbridge 3 miles to the right, and also now bears a brown and white arm marked "Pumping Station Museum".
The main road bears sharp left here and you need to turn right, into School Lane. Just a few yards after this, the road bears sharp left, but you require the narrow road straight ahead which is called Lakewall. There is another Pumping Station signpost here.
Drive along this lane (can be muddy or filled with cows!) and after approximately 1 mile, bear left at the next major fork, into Hoopers Lane, which is now marked with the Pumping Station Museum sign. Follow this until you see a signboard on the road, for the museum. This is positioned opposite the turning into the site, which is a very sharp swing right.
If you are travelling from the South on the M5 then, unless you already know the area well, we would recommend you leave at Junction 24 and make your way into Bridgwater to locate the A372 as detailed above. There is a route to Westonzoyland on the minor moors roads. Visitors are asked to appreciate the isolated nature of our site and we hope these instructions and the new roadsigns will help you find your way.
