FACILITIES & ACCESS
Wheelchair Access
Disabled parking is available near to the entrance of the Museum on hardstanding. The Museum has level access throughout most of our buildings. There are some steps in the Grade II* Listed Pumping Station but do not prohibit viewing of the exhibits.

Located in our Cafe we have fully accessible modern toilet facilities.
​
Our passenger railway is not currently wheel chair accessible, we are working on building a new coach that will provide that facility. Our volunteers will be as accommodating as possible and should you have an issue accessing any area of the Museum we would be happy to assist.
Babies & Children
We pride ourselves on being a family friendly Museum. We have baby changing facilities in our accessible toilet along with nappy bags and wipes for emergencies! We also have child high chairs available in the Cafe. We understand that not all children want what we have to offer in the way of food or drinks so feel free to bring your own! We do however ensure we have high quality kids drinks and snacks available to purchase.

It is important that visiting children have fun and engage with our collection and so we have a great kids trail which is free. Pick one up on entry and see how many items you can spot on your way around. A treat is waiting for when you return! We also have a series of hand pumps which can be operated and on steam days, ask the boiler stoker to pull the colliery whistle, mind your ears though as its very loud!

Museum Guides
The Museum has a free Pocket Guide available to download HERE or collect one on entry. We also have a compressive Guide Book which is A5 and full colour, outlining the history of land drainage in the area as well as detailed information on our collection, engine by engine. This is available to purchase at our entrance or HERE if you would like to purchase one before or after your visit!
We are also working on updating our interpretation, you will notice QR codes appearing, which when scanned with your smartphone will take you to additional information on the exhibit you are exploring or even a video of it in action! We have good 4G & 5G signal but if you are struggling feel free to connect to our Guest Wifi, the access code is displayed at point of entry!
